Don't Worry Warner Bros., We've Already Picked Who Should Star In Your Live-Action Jonny Quest Movie
Warner Bros. caught us all by surprise today when they announced they were going to re-boot their popular cartoon Jonny Quest as a live action movie directed by Robert Rodriguez.
Now we know Rodriguez is able to do great visual adaptations of comic book properties (Sin City), can handle a family-friendly franchise (Spy Kids), and is capable of framing high-octane action sequences (Desperado), but rather than waste time waiting for the director and the studio to put together a cast, we here at First Slice thought we’d save them some time and just decide who should star in the series.
Without further ado, we present our picks for the live-action adaptation of Jonny Quest.
Jimmy Pinchak as Jonny Quest
Already a member of the genre, having appeared in the 2013 adatpation of Ender’s Game, we here at First Slice feel Jimmy would make an inspired choice as the iconic Jonny Quest. He’s got the right action/adventure look, a good track record, AND he’s a magician (c’mon, that’s gotta be handy for something). More importantly, Jimmy also has experience with motion-capture (he previously worked on The Polar Express), a skill that would likely come in handy for a director like Robert Rodriguez, who famously uses green screen technology to bring his films to life.
John Slattery as Dr. Benton C. Quest
Fantastic actor capable of fun and gravitas, subtle throwback to the era when Jonny Quest was created, the the perfect amount of silver hair used in the animated series.
Chris Pratt as Roger T. “Race” Bannon
Chris Pratt may be a busy man right now, but given his awesome track record as an action star right now, he would make a killer addition to the crew.
Tony Revolori as Hadji
He absolutely killed in The Grand Budapest Hotel and proved he not only had the acting chops to work in an ensemble, but also had a killer sense of comic timing that would be necessary in a live-action adaptation.
The Dog From Modern Family as Bandit
As one of the hardest working dogs in the industry, Brigitte, would absolutely destroy her scenes. Make it happen. ASAP.
Just look at her!
Emma Stone as Jade
Jade is a love interest to Race. We want Race to be played by Chris Pratt. Now Imagine a scene with Chris Pratt and Emma Stone. Yeah, we want to see that movie, too.
Billy Zane as Dr. Zin
Experience as a bad guy. Check.
Bad guy vocal cadence. Check.
Ability to rock a bald dome like nobody’s business. Check.
Billy Zane is your man.
